Instruments played by Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts

The Instruments of  Keith Trussell

Keith Trussell, AKA Keef Trouble (on account of…well, it speaks for itself. doesn’t it?)

Keef is the major performance artiste in Brett Marvin & The Thunderbolts. He has worn his way through a number of home made zob sticks, but he never replaces them completely, he always puts a little bit of the old one into the new one, being ever so slightly superstitious and all…

His unique zob stick consists of a wooden pole, a large number of nailed on bottletops, a boot and a spring.  The zob stick has made Keef infamous for accidentally damaging things like pub ceilings when he baton twirls it.

This is a heavy piece of equipment and thirty years of use have made Keith an arm wrestling champion in his local pub. In fact his whole body has become more muscled on the right side than the other. He is very fit. Keef does not drive, and so can often be seen carrying rare and unusual equipment on the London Underground.

The size of the instrument has never been a deterrent to Keef, during one year he manhandled a stainless steel kitchen sink to every gig!

Keef is also famous for being the only performer ever to play an electric ironing board, using a variety of percussion ‘sticks’ featuring such famous household names such as Addis.
